Welcome!

My name is David and what you have come across here is a collection of a side passion I have been working on for quite some time now. Unfortunately for my bank account, I stumbled into a photography class during my high school years and I really haven’t turned back since then.  I find myself hopping in and out of the hobby from time to time, trying to find a proper balance between my want to drive hours up and down the West Coast taking photos and having to do my homework that’s due by midnight on Sunday. Luckily, I find that my other hobbies provide me ample opportunities to expand the scope of my photography portfolio. Beyond my continued need to be involved in a sport at any given time, I have recently found myself becoming more immersed in the Northern California surf culture and the booming rock climbing scene. You may find some common trends as you wander through the gallery - being that I find it hard to keep myself away from the ocean or the outdoors. My goal has always been to try and use photography to share the beauty that I am able to find in the world with other people. I hope that as much as these photos portray landscapes and colors and objects, that they also convey the emotion of the place or the people.

Now for the more fun part where I get to tell you all about me as a person. I was born and raised in the rainy town of Portland, Oregon, and I spent much of my younger years trying to figure out how many sports I could immerse myself in. I firmly believed that I was the next young talent that would grace the European soccer fields - the second coming of Messi if you will. Those hopes were dashed after my freshman year of high school, and so I set my sights on long distance running instead. I spent three years working through grueling workouts and hard-fought races with one of the greatest group of teammates I have ever been alongside. Unfortunately, despite the great succeses I found there, I was no Prefontaine, and I amicably ended my time as a heavily committed runner as I left for my college years. These days I fill my time with a collection of activities that both feels neverending and always changing. On top of the aforementioned surf and climbing hobbies, I captain the club ultimate frisbee team at my school and participate in every intramural sport offered (with 3 championships to show for it). On sunny days you will find me out on the lawns playing spikeball or building a random addition to my house with my roommates (that may or may not be up to code). With the conclusion of my senior year quickly approaching, I am excitedly preparing to start my professional career in the San Francisco bay area.

A NOTE FOR YOU
